Best Western Henley Hotel held an open evening and showed its newly refurbished and redesigned rooms to the public. What we saw was indeed impressive. As the Chairman of the Business and Employment Committee of the Parish Council I was delighted. Henley has now excellent hotel accommodation for tourism and business visitors. Henley and Wootton Wawen offer history, sport facilities and a beautiful countryside. At the same time we are situated a mere 8 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon Shakespeare’s birthplace and the Shakespeare theatre. We are close to the M42 and M40 motorways and have easy access to National Exhibition Centre, England’s second City Birmingham and its international airport. Equally we are situated close to Coventry and its airport and the Cotswolds with its beautiful English Villages with one of the finest countrysides in England. Furthermore, we are only just 1 hour by car away from Oxford and about 3 hours from London.

The main bar provides its own menu as well as a wide selection of cask ales and wines.
The White Swan inn dates back to 1352 and was first documented in 1358. The current building was erected sometime in 1550 and quite possibly William Shakespeare may have visited the inn.
The poet William Shenstone (1714-1763) stayed at the White Swan and was inspired to write ‘…hoever has travelled life’s dull round, wherever his stages may have been, may sigh to think he still has found, the warmest welcome at an inn’.
Samuel Johnson in 1776 spent some time at the hotel writing versions of his English dictionary. (source: Graham Young). As a result of this, one of the beautiful suites has been named ‘The Johnson Suite’.
